Yacht owners deserve more than one option.
For decades, yacht owners have generally had one option: list with a traditional brokerage and pay a full commission. For many owners, that's exactly the right choice.
But many yacht owners know their yacht inside and out. They're comfortable answering questions, showing their yacht, and taking an active role in the sale. What they need is professional support where it helps most, and that isn't always a traditional full-service brokerage.
YachtSee was created to give yacht owners that option. You can have full brokerage representation, or take a more owner-led approach backed by professional marketing and guidance. You decide how involved you want to be.
Who built it

YachtSee was built by active yacht owners and experienced brokerage professionals. They share a belief that yacht owners deserve better options, more transparency, and a modern way to buy and sell yachts.
Founder Owen Haley has spent more than 15 years buying, owning, cruising, maintaining, and selling recreational yachts. Like many yacht owners, he has known both the rewards of ownership and the frustrations of the traditional buying and selling process.
Over time, he saw that many knowledgeable yacht owners wanted more flexibility and a bigger role in selling their yachts, while still getting professional support, broad market exposure, and experienced guidance. YachtSee grew out of that.
Today, Owen spends long stretches cruising the Pacific Northwest aboard a North Pacific 43 while running his executive consulting practice remotely. His time as an active yacht owner shapes how YachtSee works: honest advice, open communication, professional marketing, and more control for owners over how they buy and sell their yachts.
Our relationship to Pelagic Advisory
Owen Haley also founded Pelagic Advisory, an independent yacht ownership advisory practice. Pelagic Advisory Ltd holds a 50% ownership interest in YachtSee.
That relationship is disclosed here for the same reason Pelagic discloses it on its own site: independence matters, and owners deserve to know how the businesses they work with are connected.

We don't use the Journal to sell yachts. We use it to share the lifestyle that makes owning a yacht so rewarding, and to help future owners see the adventures these yachts make possible.
